Jeff Selis is an amazing editor for many music videos. He has been nominated for numerous of awards one of them was on MTV Video Music Award for Best Editing. He uses different techniques to edit music videos to make them unique and follow the conventions of the genre, but keeping in mind of the audiences satisfaction.

In the music video of Beyoncé - Formation edited by Jeff Selvis there were different editing methods used in the music video, to grab the audiences attentions such as:

Cross Cutting- Method of editing which will alter shots of two or more lines of actions, which will be occurring in different places.

Match Cut- The use of Match Cut its used between two different spaces or objects in two shots to create a visual metaphor. This can be done to establish a continuity of action and be able to link two shots.

Jump Cuts- This is a cut that will occur within a scene than between scenes, in this particular technique the figures can change instantly against the background or the background can change living the figures constant, creating a confusing atmosphere for the audiences.
